On the evening of April 17, 2009, the Zhenhua Concert Hall of Hangzhou No. 2 High School saw a great event. A fabulous concert was put on there with the joint efforts made by Main Street Choir from Los Altos High School, San Francisco, the US and Nianhua Choir of Hanghzou No. 2 High School. The members of the choir of the host school, under their conductor Mr. Xi Shengda’s direction, started the concert with “Unforgettable Hanghzou”. They also performed songs with both western and eastern backgrounds like “Red Bean Poetry” and “Long Time Ago”. The guest choir, Main Street Choir from Los Altos High School, the US, under the direction of the supervisor and conductor Mark Andrew Shaull and with the piano by Ms. Debra Yowell, presented fantastic performances and won the warmest applause from the audience. It was just incredible that, at the average age of just 16, the choir members could sing in such graceful voices. Despite the language barrier, every person in love with music was deeply touched by their music, which was also the most beautiful language in the world. When Main Street Choir sang “Never Say Goodbye” together with sign language, all the audience were touched again. The zenith of the evening came when all the members of the two choirs sang together the Chinese classic “Jasmine Flower”. The applause went on and on… | |
